PILOT CERTIFICATES
PRIVATE PILOT

The initial certificate that sets the foundation for your pilot skills and knowledge. It allows you to take command of an aircraft for any non-commercial (not for hire) use. A private pilot can fly under Visual Flight Rules (VFR). This means you must stay out of clouds. Passengers may be carried but the pilot may not be compensated for services as a pilot.
Requirements
Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language
Must be at least 17 years old at the time of your final check ride (16 years old to solo)
Possess a current FAA third-class medical certificate
Meet the aeronautical experience requirements of 14 CFR 61.103
Pass the FAA Private Pilot written test
Pass a FAA Private Pilot practical exam.

INSTRUMENT RATING
Permits flight under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). This allows you to fly in the clouds and with decreased visibility.
Requirements
Be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language
Hold at least a Private Pilot certificate
Hold a current FAA medical certificate
Meet the aeronautical experience requirements of 61.65(d)
- Pass the Instrument written test
Pass the Instrument practical exam
COMMERCIAL PILOT
In order to fly for compensation or hire you must hold a commercial certificate. You will demonstrate proficiency in more complex maneuvers and will be held to a hirer standard and have a further understanding of systems and aeronautics.
Requirements
Be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language
Be at least 18 years of age
Hold a current FAA medical certificate
Meet the aeronautical experience of 14 CFR 61.123 including 250 total hours.
Pass the FAA Commercial Pilot written test
Pass the FAA Commercial Pilot practical exam
MULTI-ENGINE ADD-ON
Allows you to fly multi-engine aircraft. This is added-on to a private or commercial certificate.
Requirements
Be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language
Hold a current FAA medical certificate
Hold a Private or Commercial certificate
Pass the FAA Multi-Engine practical exam
CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR - CFI
Start becoming an expert in aviation, build time and get paid for it. CFI allows you to instruct in the aircraft you are rated for.
Requirements
Be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language
Be at least 18 years of age
Hold a commercial or airline transport pilot certificate with an aircraft category and class rating that is appropriate to the flight instructor rating sought; and an instrument rating, or privileges on that person’s pilot certificate that are appropriate to the flight instructor rating sought
Meet the aeronautical experience of 14 CFR 61.183
Pass the FAA CFI written tests (x2)
Pass the FAA CFI practical exam
